Pugliese orchestra Tango

Pugliese debuted his newly-formed orchestra today 11th August in 1939, at the Café Nacional (Corrientes 974), known as La catedral del tango.

The first number they played was 'La guitarrita', which the orchestra did not record until 1954. Other titles listed on the publicity photo are 'Recuerdo' (recorded 1944), 'La beba' (1972), and 'Las marionetas' (1945), all three of which were composed by Pugliese.

The orchestra played daily at the café from 1pm to 7pm*.
